Based on the life of Kumail Nanjiani, Big Sick succeeded in making me laugh at many jokes where characters say funny stuff out of nowhere. Even though the movie was funny, that was not the overall focus. It is also a heartbreaking drama about the tradition of arranged marriage in Kumail's family that made it hard for him to have a normal love life as well as communicating with his own family.
